Labor and Employment Consulting

We offer clients the option of having a labor and employment law consultant on retainer for their company’s everyday needs, including everyday business inquiries, immediate updates on labor law reform, calculation of labor compensations and salary garnishments, and training of personnel on labor subjects through “in-house” seminars, among others.

Additional services we provide include labor self-diagnosis, labor due diligence, consultation on developing internal regulations, compensation plans and confidentiality agreements, consultation on the treatment of impatriates and expatriates, and training programs, among others.

Public Labor Law

Our practice integrates Constitutional Law and Public Labor Law to provide counseling to Public Sector Institutions through the following services: General Labor Consulting; Consulting on Drafting Regulations, Internal Audits, and Employment Contracts, Personnel Actions, and  Confidentiality Agreements; Consulting on Collective Bargaining Agreement Reform and Negotiation Processes and on matters related to the Contraloría General de la República (national comptroller) and the Procuraduría General de la República (an adviser and legal representative of the state); drafting and managing appeals for legal protection of Constitutional rights and actions of unconstitutionality, among others.

Payroll Management

We have created a consulting line specialized in payroll management that can complement key processes for your organization through the following services: BDS Payroll® Payroll Management and Bridge Payroll Service. Managing temporary personnel payroll can be a slow and costly process for a company that has just begun operations or is already established in a country. Through this service, we manage the responsibilities your company has before all administrative and judicial authorities, with continued employment law support services on a retainer basis.

Litigation

We have a specialized team of lawyers that provides comprehensive counseling on all phases of litigation, including conflict analysis, first instance and appeals, which includes those to higher courts.

We also provide consulting services for international cases, internal conflicts in companies, and contract-related litigation. We are also experienced in disputes outside the courts.

Our Offices

With offices in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, our lawyers provide preventive and corrective counsel for individual and collective labor conflicts to local companies and institutions and multinational companies.

We have also been featured and referenced in several other law firm rankings, such as The Legal 500Who's Who Legal and Best Lawyers international. Additionally, our Managing Partner Marco Durante Calvo was selected for inclusion in the 2015 Best Lawyers in Costa Rica© in the field of Labor and Employment Law and was named “Lawyer of the Year” for San José.
