Littler’s Kyle W. Nageotte Appointed Chair of the California Young Lawyers Association

SAN DIEGO (January 31, 2017) – Kyle W. Nageotte, an associate in the San Diego office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been elected as chair of the California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA). CYLA, the largest association of young lawyers in the nation, advocates for important issues, including legislative funding, educational programs and pro bono opportunities for young and new lawyers.

“We are proud to have Kyle represent the firm as chair of the California Young Lawyers Association,” said Denise Visconti, San Diego office managing shareholder. “We are confident that his natural leadership qualities, commitment to the community and legal experience will be key to achieving the organization’s goal of advancing the careers of young attorneys across the state.”

CYLA advocates on behalf of its members in California, and works closely with the Board of Trustees and the Council of State Bar Sections to provide training and continuing education opportunities. Through the association, new lawyers and practitioners are able to expand their professional skills by serving the public at the local and state level. CYLA also strives to close the justice gap in the state by assisting young attorneys in their skill development, which allows them to provide legal services to underrepresented communities. Beginning this year, CYLA will partner with the Lawyers Assistance Program to provide services and programs for new and young attorneys struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.

As chair, Nageotte will work with the CYLA board of directors to establish priorities for the year, maintain member programs and services, and act as liaison with various State Bar Sections. He previously held the position of vice chair and District 4 representative on the CYLA board.

“I am excited to serve CYLA in this capacity and look forward to furthering its educational programs and expanding the association’s network,” said Nageotte. “My goals are to enhance program offerings and further elevate the prominence of the organization throughout California.”

In his practice, Nageotte represents and advises employers in a broad range of labor and employment law matters, primarily claims involving: class actions, discrimination, wage and hour disputes, and wrongful termination. He also serves as co-chair of the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association’s Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony and is a member of the University of San Diego School of Law’s LGBT Alumni Scholarship Committee. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and his B.A. from The George Washington University.
