Littler’s Bob Ortbals Appointed President to the Board of Directors for the Children’s Heart Foundation Missouri Chapter

ST. LOUIS, MO (July 19, 2013) – Bob Ortbals, Jr., a shareholder in the St. Louis office of Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has been elected President to the Board of Directors of The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF) – Missouri Chapter.

“I have been a supporter of The Children’s Heart Foundation for several years and I am honored to serve in this capacity,” said Ortbals.  “I look forward to working with CHF as we continue our mission to fund the most promising research in an effort to advance diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects.”

CHF is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise awareness about congenital heart disease—the leading birth defect and leading cause of all infant deaths in the United States—and to bring health, hope and happiness to families impacted by the disease. The organization represents approximately two million afflicted American children and adults. As the only organization that exclusively funds congenital heart disease research, CHF has a critical role in advocating for increased research and other significant issues in both the private and public arenas. CHF focuses on collaboration with other nationally recognized congenital heart organizations that have a proven track record as proponents of issues related to congenital heart disease.

”I lost a sister to a congenital heart defect and honor her all-too-short life by undertaking this important work,” added Ortbals.

Professionally, Ortbals works with employers on a range of employment matters. He has successfully advised and defended employers and managers in cases involving various employment related issues and disputes, including discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure to accommodate, FMLA interference, wage and hour, noncompetition and non-solicitation covenants and trade secrets. In addition, Ortbals regularly speaks and publishes on various employment law topics. He is a graduate of the Missouri Bar’s Leadership Academy and received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law (2004).
