As a member of the Littler CaseSmart – Charges™ team and based in Virginia, Lisa Leiner is responsible for handling charges from investigation to conclusion. She works on client-dedicated service teams, focusing on handling administrative agency charges. She investigates charge allegations, reviews pertinent documents, interviews key witnesses, and provides clients an assessment of the risks associated with the charge. In partnership with the client, she defends the charge by drafting persuasive position statements and responses to the agency’s requests for information.
Prior to joining Littler, Lisa was a partner at a Richmond law firm where she practiced for sixteen years. Her practice included the defense of professional liability, employment and local government matters in state and federal courts. Lisa advised and represented clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based on alleged violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, The Americans with Disabilities Act and The Age Discrimination in Employment Act. She litigated hundreds of cases and served as first chair for jury and bench trials.
Lisa also worked for a professional liability insurance carrier managing claims throughout Virginia. She understands the importance of timely case evaluation, damages assessment, budgeting and consistent risk/benefit analysis. Lisa supported insureds throughout the litigation process, including attendance at trial to provide analysis of jurors, witness testimony, and rulings from the Court to determine whether to continue to defend or initiate settlement negotiations with opposing counsel.
