Littler Mendelson Grows Attorney Ranks, Deepens Commitment to Diversity

The legal news service Law360 recently published a story indicating that Littler Mendelson’s attorney headcount in the U.S. dropped from 2014 to 2015. This article stemmed from an error in the reporting of our HR data that unfortunately did not come to light until after the story published. Due to this discrepancy in our numbers, we also were not included in Law360’s annual gender and diversity rankings, in which we are normally ranked among the top law firms.

We feel it is important to clarify for our staff, clients and potential lateral recruits that we grew our roster of U.S.-based attorneys from 2014 to 2015, while increasing our representation of female and diverse attorneys across several categories. As part of Littler’s strategy to serve as a single source provider of employment law counsel for our clients, we brought on several high-profile lateral attorneys in the U.S. and abroad in 2015, while bolstering our global presence with new offices in Canada, Germany, Guatemala and Nicaragua. We now have more than 1,000 attorneys practicing throughout our U.S. and international offices.

As a firm deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, we also continued to recruit and retain a diverse team of lawyers that support our growth and share our belief that distinct perspectives enrich our culture, enhance our work and make us a stronger and smarter firm. We are proud that the firm is widely recognized by clients, the media and leading associations for progressive diversity practices and programs.

We’ve built on a successful 2015 with a strong first quarter in 2016 as our lawyers focus on helping clients navigate an ever-changing and increasingly complex web of regulatory, economic and technological developments. Looking ahead, we will continue to strategically grow our team of experienced, diverse lawyers by expanding in key markets and hiring top notch talent, while leveraging innovative approaches that enhance the delivery of legal services.

Sincerely,

Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth
