Kimberly Brown-Gibbs Named to Lawyers of Color’s 2014 Hot List

MEMPHIS, TN (July 31, 2014) – Kimberly Brown-Gibbs, an attorney in the Memphis office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been included in Lawyers of Color’s second annual Hot List Issue. The list recognizes early-to mid-career minority attorneys working as in-house counsel, government attorneys, and law firm associates and partners who are excelling in the legal profession. Brown-Gibbs, was honored at the regional Southern Hot List Reception.

Hot List honorees were chosen through a two-pronged process. The selection committee spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar association publications and legal blogs in order to identify promising candidates. Nominations from mentors, peers, and colleagues were accepted. The selection committee also made editorial picks of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments, especially those active in legal pipeline initiatives.

At Littler, Brown-Gibbs advises and represents management clients in various areas of federal and state employment law and traditional labor law. She concentrates her practice on employment litigation in defense of management arising under or implicating federal and state laws such as, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Tennessee Human Rights Act.

Active in the community, she is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the National Bar Association, Ben F. Jones Chapter and the Memphis Recovery Centers, Inc. Additionally, she served as a former coach for the mock trial team at St. George’s Independent School in Germantown, TN. Brown-Gibbs is a former board member of the Young Graduate Association at the University of Richmond School of Law.

Brown-Gibbs has also been recognized for her contributions to the community and the legal profession. She is a past recipient of the Volunteer Award by the Memphis Recovery Centers, Inc. and was the recipient of the Equal Access to Justice Scholarship by the National Association of Women Judges. She also earned the Excellence in Labor and Employment Law Award by ABA-Bloomberg BNA.

Brown-Gibbs received her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, cum laude and her B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University, magna cum laude.
