Biography

Mr. Phillis handles employment litigation, traditional labor, wage and hour and ERISA cases before administrative agencies and federal and state courts. He counsels unionized and non-unionized employers on employment policies and practices and counsels employers on ways to avoid and minimize potential liability. Mr. Phillis conducts training for employers on topics such as harassment prevention and investigation and recruiting techniques. He is a frequent speaker at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Annual Employment Law Institute and at other PBI Seminars. Mr. Phillis also serves as Co-Chair of the Firm's Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Mr. Phillis also studied at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain and received an Organization of American States grant to study at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Activities

Mr. Phillis is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Allegheny County Bar Association.

He is past president and a board member of Residential Care Services and served on the board of the Mental Health America - Allegheny County.

Mr. Phillis serves as a member of the Advisory Board of Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts.

He is the Southwestern Pennsylvania area chair of the Georgetown University Alumni Admissions Program.
