Littler Recognized as ACC Value Champion

(May 19, 2017) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been recognized alongside its client, Cabela’s Inc., as a 2017 ACC Value Champion by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). Littler and Cabela’s, a direct marketer and specialty retailer of outdoor recreation merchandise, are among the 12 corporate legal departments and law department/law firm collaborations honored by the ACC for driving value, while controlling legal spending and producing better results.

In early 2015, Cabela’s implemented Littler CaseSmart® to better manage administrative agency charges and single-plaintiff employment litigation. Through a combination of technology, alternative staffing models and legal project management, Littler CaseSmart handles employment matters in a more cost-effective and efficient manner, while enhancing quality and consistency and providing data-driven insights on business risks and other employment issues.

“It is an honor to be recognized in conjunction with Cabela’s for what was truly a collaborative effort to leverage Littler CaseSmart to redesign Cabela’s approach to managing its employment matters,” said shareholder Scott Forman, founder of Littler CaseSmart and a member of Littler’s board of directors. “As in-house counsel are increasingly focused on making smarter budget decisions and looking to their law firms to proactively offer innovative solutions, our work with Cabela’s is a prime example of the many benefits of such a collaboration.”

ACC, a global legal association representing more than 42,000 members in 85 countries, noted that the use of Littler CaseSmart resulted in reduced costs, greater budget predictability, and increased quality and consistency. Cabela’s has seen an approximate reduction of 57 percent in legal spend on administrative agency charges and about a 20 percent reduction for single-plaintiff employment litigation. Cabela’s has also seen improved outcomes in their employment matters, while the technological capabilities and data analytics provided by Littler CaseSmart have provided valuable insight on how best to proceed with its cases at the onset.

“Before Littler shareholder Barry Hartstein introduced me to Littler CaseSmart, I had been searching for a case management system that would streamline the management of employment matters,” said Bradley C. Lundeen, senior corporate attorney for labor and employment law at Cabela’s. “Littler CaseSmart not only provided a case management solution, but also a model premised on more efficient workflow and data analytics. It has been incredibly gratifying to partner with a firm that shares my passion for technology’s potential to change the practice of law.”

Littler CaseSmart is part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to providing practical, innovative solutions to companies of all sizes in various industries. In addition to the ACC, Littler’s commitment to innovation has drawn accolades from major organizations that recognize innovation in the delivery of legal services, including the Financial Times, National Law Journal, Legaltech News, International Legal Technology Association, College of Law Practice Management and Fastcase.
