The New York Paid Family Leave Law (PFL) takes effect on January 1, 2018, and requires most New York employers to provide employees with coverage for paid family leave benefits. Final regulations were issued in August 2017 and impose complex and specific requirements on employers.

This program will provide helpful information to assist your company in complying with the nuanced requirements of the PFL, including, but not limited to:

  • Waiver requirements for ineligible requirements
  • Ensuring that coverage requirements are met
  • How to calculate deductions from wages to finance PFL benefits
  • Posting requirements under PFL
  • Coordinating PFL Leave with FMLA and employer provided leaves
  • Complying with requirements to amend company handbooks and policies
  • Continuation of health care benefits during leave
