Are You Adequately Compensating Your Nonexempt Employees? Understanding the Challenges of “Compensable Time” in the Modern Workplace
This webinar will focus on providing guidance to employers to better understand if, under different scenarios typical of the modern workplace, nonexempt employees who work remotely or use digital devices may be regarded as “working" and, therefore, are entitled to compensation for the worked time. This will be an entertaining and dynamic webinar where questions such as if the time spent by a nonexempt employee reading, sending, and answering text/WhatsApp messages from/to their supervisors is or is not compensable will be discussed. The speakers will also cover other examples that will allow employers to analyze if nonexempt employees are being properly compensated under the applicable federal and local laws and its respective regulations while using cell phones, tablets and laptops when working remotely and/or off the clock.
100% of the proceeds from the seminar will benefit Jóvenes de Puerto Rico en Riesgo, a nonprofit organization that since 1996 has distinguished itself by the development of an effective prevention model aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 17 who are at high risk of interrupting their studies and becoming involved in criminal activities. It is a pioneer in offering one-on-one mentoring with the aim of helping young people take control of their lives and develop personal and social skills. So, by attending this virtual seminar, you're not only investing in your professional growth—you're helping to build a future for young people at risk of interrupting their studies.
