PORTLAND, OR (August 12, 2013) - Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has elevated Jennifer A. Nelson to shareholder in the firm’s growing Portland office. A Chambers USA-ranked lawyer, Nelson represents both public and private employers in all aspects of employment law. Nelson’s elevation coincides with the recent leadership change in Portland with Doug Parker named office managing shareholder.
“This is an exciting time for the Portland office,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, in a joint statement. “With the new leadership and Jennifer’s elevation to shareholder, the Portland office is poised for growth. We see tremendous opportunities in the region and these personnel changes are the next steps in our overall strategy to further build the firm’s presence throughout the Pacific Northwest.”
“Jennifer is an exceptional attorney and we are proud to add her to our shareholder ranks,” Parker said. “She will be instrumental in our effort to amplify the Portland office’s footprint regionally, nationally and globally. We are excited about the future of the office and look forward to Jennifer’s continued contributions.”
Nelson’s practice focuses on representing clients on claims involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues. She has successfully represented employers in Oregon and Washington in both state and federal courts, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, and the Washington Human Rights Commission. Nelson’s practice also extends to counseling companies on a variety of employment issues, including employee discipline and termination, wage and hour compliance, reasonable accommodation, and adherence to federal and state family and medical leave laws.
A frequent speaker, Nelson has presented at several employment law seminars, and also provides management, human resources, and employee training. Nelson is a member of both the Oregon State and Multnomah Bar Associations. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles and her B.A. from the University of Idaho.
