(January 17, 2017) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its founding. Established in 1942 in San Francisco, Littler has grown to a global firm with more than 1,200 attorneys in over 75 offices.

Growth and Expansion
As part of Littler’s strategy to serve as a single source provider of employment law counsel for clients, the firm has grown its footprint and attorney ranks both domestically and globally. Through the addition of several lateral groups and high-profile attorneys, as well as opening new offices in key U.S. markets, Littler now operates in 34 states and the District of Columbia.
Since establishing its first international location in Caracas, Venezuela, in October 2010, Littler has also expanded rapidly across the globe. Soon after opening two offices in Mexico in 2012, the firm expanded into Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Puerto Rico. In 2015, Littler moved into Canada, opening an office in Toronto, and entered the European market by combining with vangard, a leading labor and employment law boutique in Germany. In October 2016, the firm further expanded its footprint in Europe by combining with Fromont Briens, one of the largest employment law firms in Europe with 170 lawyers and offices in Paris and Lyon, France.
With a long track record of being on the forefront of innovation in the legal industry, Littler has made it a priority to proactively develop new approaches and solutions that help employers comply with laws and regulations, better handle the litigation process and more efficiently manage their workforces.
Launched in 2010, Littler CaseSmart® redesigned the way employment matters are handled through a unique combination of technology, alternative staffing models and legal project management. Initially created to manage administrative agency charges, the platform has expanded to the defense of single-plaintiff employment litigation and wage and hour class and collective action litigation. Littler has since developed more than a dozen Service Solutions, including the Littler Big Data Initiative, which helps clients leverage data analytics to better manage their workforces and enhance employment litigation strategies; ComplianceHR, a joint venture between Littler and Neota Logic that provides businesses with web-based applications that guide critical employment law decisions; and Workplace Policy Institute®, which engages with Congress, the executive branch and the courts to ensure employers’ voices are heard on critical employment, labor and benefits issues.
