Health care ruling spurs employment action, tort debate

In an article on the U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold the federal health care law, Littler’s Steven J. Friedman comments that the biggest decision facing lawyers and their business clients is whether to continue to provide health care coverage to their employees or simply pay the employer mandate penalty under the law and leave workers to buy their own health insurance from state-based exchanges that offer coverage options. He notes that an employer’s decision will be based on an evaluation of their budgets.
