Robert I. Lockwood
Robert I. Lockwood represents and counsels clients in connection with a variety of aspects of employment law and related litigation. He defends both California and national employers in complex class action and collective action cases, as well as in single plaintiff litigation matters, involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, unfair competition, and misappropriation of trade secrets.
In addition to his litigation practice, Robert provides workplace training, conducts investigations, and counsels employers on workplace policies, practices, and agreements. He also focuses on labor management relations, including defending against union campaigns and representation petitions, handling grievance arbitration and administrative hearings, responding to unfair labor practice charges, and advising on collective bargaining issues. Robert is an active member of the firm’s Sports Industry Practice Group. He is a graduate of Tulane Law School’s Sports Law Certificate Program and has been published in the Sports Lawyers Journal. He has also a member of the faculty for California’s Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) and has presented on sports law issues.
Robert’s clients span numerous industries, including financial services, technology and software, sports, pharmaceutical, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, wine, and construction.
Prior to joining Littler, Robert was a Partner at one of the nation’s largest Am Law 100 full-service corporate defense law firms as well as a prominent mid-size national law firm. Robert is a former NCAA Division I college athlete.
