The State of California and OSHA recently adopted a new regulation requiring “lodging establishments," such as hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfast inns, to develop and implement a Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Program to reduce repetitive and routine injuries for housekeeping and maintenance employees. The program must include a musculoskeletal injury and illness prevention plan, worksite evaluations, training, risk assessments, injury investigation and recordkeeping requirements. The regulation took effect on July 1, 2018 and enforcement of the plan, training and risk assessment will likely begin in October 2018.
The speakers will discuss these new OSHA developments and best practices for conducting ergonomic assessments and risk assessments to ensure compliance with the new regulation.
