The 2016 Presidential election was arguably the most contentious, unpredictable, and politically polarizing race in this nation's history. In the end, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president on January 20, 2017, with a Republican majority in both Houses of Congress. What will this mean for the employer community? How will the course of labor and employment law be changed, and how can you prepare your company to navigate these changes?
In this roundtable discussion, the co-chair of Littler’s Workplace Policy Institute and other Littler shareholders will examine the workplace policy agenda that the new administration and Congress are likely to pursue. They will identify those employment changes that are likely to be priorities in the new Administration, those not likely to come to fruition, and those which may change but only in time.
The speakers will discuss the future of the proposed overtime exemption changes, new EEO-1 forms, class action waivers in arbitration, the “blacklisting” rule, the persuader and fiduciary rules, “mini” bargaining units, other developments within the DOL, EEOC, NLRB, and other federal agencies, as well as possible changes in legislation, regulations, and significant court cases that may impact employers in 2017 and beyond.
