In this series, the speakers will provide quarterly updates on significant labor and employment developments across the region, essential for any company with operations in APAC. Each presentation is offered twice, to accommodate all global time zones. The series is presented by our Asia Pacific Team, licensed/qualified to practice in Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand and the United States, and our international attorneys who manage multicountry projects and issues throughout the region. We will announce details of each topic to ensure that each quarterly program provides the most timely developments and updates.

India boasts a diverse workforce with often competing needs and priorities. The COVID-19 pandemic added layers of complexity to the employer’s already significant obligations, including managing strategies to attract and retain talent while keeping a lean and efficient workforce. Moreover, the recent presidential change in the United States is one of several factors piquing interest in India as a business partner as well as a destination for business expansion.

In light of these changes and challenges, we will address the most common questions and concerns we’ve been hearing from multinationals with operations or workers in India.

  • Hiring; Wandering to India: I’m engaging workers in India (or discovered that some of my workers are working from India rather than in their normal place of employment!), and we need to know our options.

  • Restructuring: We need to streamline our workforce. What are the options and pitfalls for reducing headcount or re-arranging our workforce in India?

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, but we are having a hard time making it work in India. What are the primary impediments and cultural issues we need to address in India?
