Littler's Philip Berkowitz Appointed Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's International Employment Law Committee

NEW YORK, NY (July 11, 2014) – Philip Berkowitz, a shareholder in the New York City office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been appointed 2014–15 Vice-Chair of the International Employment Law Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law. Berkowitz is also the U.S. practice co-chair of Littler’s International Employment Law Practice Group.

“It is an honor to be named Vice Chair of the International Employment Law Committee of the ABA,” said Berkowitz. “I look forward to serving the Committee and advancing its overall mission.”

Vice Chairs are chosen on the basis of their abilities, expertise and contributions to the Section. As Vice Chair, Berkowitz will be responsible for overseeing and advising on a number of the group’s activities.

At Littler, Berkowitz counsels multinational and domestic companies in a wide range of industries on employment-related matters. A respected authority on international employment law issues, he speaks frequently before a number of prominent international organizations, such as the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the China General Chamber of Commerce and the Japan Society, among others. He also regularly authors articles and is quoted in the media on various topics relating to international employment law. He has been recognized for his career achievements by publications including The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who Legal and Chambers USA. Berkowitz received his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College and his B.A. from the State University of New York at New Paltz.

The ABA Section of International Law, which has more than 20,000 members in 90 countries, is the leader in the development of policy in the international arena, the promotion of the rule of law and the education of international law practitioners. It focuses on the full range of international legal issues and is involved in a wide variety of substantive legal activities.
