Perspectiva General

Robert F. Millman joined Littler in the fall of 1974 right after law school and is currently a senior shareholder at the law firm. As the founder of the firm’s two Los Angeles offices and former chair of its board of directors, he has been an integral part of the growth, development and success of Littler for almost 50 years.

Bob successfully represents employers in proceedings and unfair labor practices before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and in employment litigation, including complex class actions. He also represents clients in arbitration and mediation, and in collective bargaining negotiations. As a result of Jennifer Abruzzo’s appointment as general counsel of the NLRB, Bob has been increasingly involved in national union-organizing campaigns and training employers to create employee-friendly workplaces.

Over the past five decades, he has accumulated years of experience with claims arising under:

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)
  • The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • The California Fair Employment and Housing Act
  • The California Labor Code

Additionally, Bob offers compliance counseling and advice designed to prevent labor and employment litigation and provides clients with employment law training. He also helps management develop employment law problem prevention modules and policies. Bob works with clients in all industries across the country. As a result of his years of experience, C-suites, senior executives and corporate boards nationwide often look to Bob for advice and counsel on sensitive, difficult and complex employment issues. Prominent media outlets also regularly seek out Bob’s experience and knowledge on labor and employment issues.

Bob is frequently recognized for his contributions to the profession, with repeat appearances on prestigious lists of the country’s top labor and employment law attorneys, including Chambers and Lawdragon. He is regularly named to the list of the Top 100 Attorneys in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the San Francisco Daily Journal, and has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Management Labor Attorneys in the United States by the National Law Journal.
