By statute, Minnesota has joined California, North Dakota, and Oklahoma as one of only four states to entirely outlaw noncompete agreements. This is a development of mammoth proportions that will leave Minnesota employers without one of the primary means of protecting their trade secrets and other intellectual property. The FTC is also poised to issue a final rule that, if it takes effect, may similarly limit all U.S. employers from requiring employees to sign noncompete agreements.
During this webinar, presenters will address the scope of the new Minnesota ban on noncompete agreements and discuss strategies Minnesota employers may want to consider to protect their trade secrets, intellectual property, and customer relationships and goodwill in a post-noncompete world. Presenters will also discuss the FTC’s proposed rule, the likely scope of the final rule that the FTC may publish, and compliance challenges employers will face when and if the FTC rule takes effect.
