KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 18, 2016) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added Anthony Romano as a shareholder in the Kansas City office. Romano joins the firm after 29 years at Polsinelli, where he was a shareholder and vice-chair of its Labor and Employment group. Romano’s arrival follows recent additions to the firm, including a group of lateral attorneys from Locke Lord, signaling Littler’s continued growth firmwide.
“Tony comes to Littler with a strong reputation throughout the Midwest built on nearly three decades of working with employers,” said Daniel B. Boatright, office managing shareholder of Littler’s Kansas City office. “He is an outstanding trial lawyer who has successfully represented well-known companies in local courts and across the country.”
Romano has represented clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, construction, finance, sports management, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications. He has defended clients against charges and claims of employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation before courts across the U.S. as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Over the course of his career, Romano has successfully tried employment cases to jury verdicts in multiple jurisdictions.
Romano also has extensive experience in protecting the intellectual property of employer clients and defending the over-reach of post-employment restrictions, including the enforcement of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act and restrictive covenants.
“Littler’s position as the world’s largest labor and employment practice, combined with its strong ties and commitment to Kansas City, were among the main reasons I joined the team,” Romano said. “Littler has also added some top talent across the firm in recent months, and I was drawn to its continued growth around the globe and the firm’s unique platform tailored to employers’ needs.”
Romano has been included on the Super Lawyers list in Kansas City for 10 years, has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America© since 2013, and has been awarded the AV Peer Review rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He earned his J.D. with honors from Washburn University School of Law, where he served as the editor of the Washburn Law Journal, and his B.A. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
