MIAMI (May 8, 2024) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has appointed D. Porpoise Evans as office managing shareholder (OMS) of the firm’s Miami office. Evans succeeds Lori Brown, who will fully shift her role to focus on her firmwide management and operational responsibilities.
“Porpoise’s natural leadership abilities and his deep connections to the local business and legal communities will be instrumental as we continue to expand Littler’s presence in Miami,” said Erin Webber, Littler’s managing director and president. “On behalf of the firm, we thank Lori for her steady leadership and guidance, which has been key in the success of the Miami office, and we look forward to her continued contributions at the broader firm level.”
Evans has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and named a Top Lawyer by the South Florida Legal Guide. He advises public and private companies on an array of employment law matters, including wage and hour compliance, discrimination claims, breach of contract, leave and disability accommodation, and workplace safety. He regularly defends employers in federal and state courts, as well as before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Evans also counsels multinational companies operating abroad on in-market risk assessments and compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and represents Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) member firms in arbitrations.
“Since joining Littler, I have witnessed first-hand the incredible talent of the attorneys and staff in the Miami office. I am truly honored to help serve in the OMS role to collectively work to build on the momentum of Lori’s leadership,” Evans added. “She has been a fantastic example of what a leader should be, and I look forward to working with our Miami team to continue to provide our clients with innovative and business-oriented solutions to address their most pressing and complex legal problems.”
Evans is a sought-after author on various employment and labor law topics and has also served as a speaker for a variety of business and legal organizations. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and his A.B. from Brown University.
