Littler Receives Prestigious Innovation Award From College of Law Practice Management

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 13, 2012) - Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has received the prestigious 2012 InnovAction Award from the College of Law Practice Management for Littler CaseSmart®. The InnovAction Awards were created in 2004 to spotlight and support innovation in the legal profession.

“Today’s legal environment demands more than ever the ability to offer clients efficient and productive approaches to conducting business. At Littler, we are constantly striving to innovate the way we deliver legal services to our clients. Our proprietary Littler CaseSmart solution has truly transformed the way we practice law and we are honored to be recognized by the College of Law Practice Management for our achievements in innovation,” said Marko Mrkonich, president and managing director of the firm.

The InnovAction Award is a worldwide search of lawyers, law firms and other deliverers of legal services who are currently engaged in some extraordinary innovative effort. Submissions are judged based on originality, disruption, value and effectiveness.

“We are committed to developing and employing creative legal technologies to serve the needs of our clients and it is gratifying to be acknowledged for our efforts with the highly-coveted InnovAction award,” said Scott Rechtschaffen, Littler’s chief knowledge officer. “Littler CaseSmart has completely reengineered the way in which matters are handled, maximizing the use of technology, alternative staffing models and process improvements delivered at a fixed fee in order to streamline efficiencies while increasing the firm’s revenue and profitability.”

Developed in response to a client challenge, Littler CaseSmart combines a legal process built on a technology platform that allows for the strategic management of a high‐volume of administrative agency charges at a fixed, per‐charge fee. Littler CaseSmart provides transparent, privileged and real‐time online access to the status of the client’s legal matters, as well as a dashboard of key performance indicators, visual graphics and reports. In addition to this year’s InnovAction Award, Littler CaseSmart was recognized as the 2011 Project of the Year by the International Legal Technology Association.

Littler will receive this year’s InnovAction Award at the 2012 Futures Conference & Symposium held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the College of Law Practice Management in Washington, D.C. on Friday, October 26, 2012.
