Littler Named Best Law Firm for Women by Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 6, 2013 ) - Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management, has been named one of the “50 Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, marking the fifth time it has made the prestigious list. Littler was recognized for its excellence in creating flexibility and professional development programs designed to retain women and help advance them into leadership positions.

“Littler continues to be an innovator in the advancement of women and has made great strides to remove professional barriers and offer a working environment that is designed for women to thrive and to be appropriately rewarded for their achievements,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, in a joint statement. “This recognition underscores the firm’s leading position with regard to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in the industry.”

Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers founded the 50 Best Law Firms for Women initiative in 2007 to celebrate law firms that have proved to be most successful in retaining and promoting women lawyers. Their goal is also to give law firms in general an array of benchmarking tools to enable them in the future to improve the status of women in their firms.

Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media, said, “The Best 50 Law Firms for Women have created the “ultimate benchmark” in the profession. “They not only offer excellent flexibility and advancement policies to retain and grow their female talent, they fight for issues crucial to women worldwide through their powerful pro bono programs.  Last year, 69 percent of the Best Law Firms had one or more women in their top ten rainmakers; this year, the number has gone up to 78 percent, a testament to the firms’ management and those who are rising through the ranks.”

“The advancement and retention of our talented female attorneys are priorities at Littler and to be recognized by Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers is a reflection of our continued commitment to that goal,” added Dionysia Johnson-Massie and Linda Headley, shareholders and co-chairs of Littler’s Women’s Leadership Initiative.
