KANSAS CITY, MO (June 08, 2015) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has increased its attorney ranks with the addition of Karen K. Cain. Cain joins the firm’s Kansas City, MO office as a shareholder and brings with her extensive litigation experience. Prior to joining Littler, she served as counsel in the Kansas City office of Bryan Cave. The addition of Cain follows recent lateral hires throughout a number of Littler’s U.S. offices.

A lead defense litigator, Cain’s experience includes individual and class claims, including defense of lawsuits filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Commissioner Charge investigations and other nationwide investigations and litigation by the EEOC. She has extensive experience defending discrimination and harassment claims involving national origin, color, race, sex, age, disability, religion and pregnancy, as well as claims of retaliation, constructive discharge and wrongful discharge and privacy and tort claims. She has defended employers before the American Arbitration Association and has worked with arbitrators throughout the country. She also routinely counsels employers on related matters of employee attendance, discipline, performance and involuntary separation and conducts internal investigations.

Active in the legal community, Cain was the president for the Kansas Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section from 2008-2009 and has served as a Member at Large since 2010. She is admitted in Kansas and Missouri, as well as in all federal courts in Kansas, Missouri and Colorado and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 8th and 10th Circuits. She served as contributing editor for the American Bar Association’s section of Labor and Employment Law, Family Medical Leave Act Treatise Supplement and on the Age Discrimination in Employment Act’s Annual Report.
Cain received her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law with honors, her M.S.E. from the University of Kansas and her B.A. from Avila College, magna cum laude.
