Littler Adds Allison Borkenheim as Shareholder in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (August 1, 2022) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added B. Allison Borkenheim as a shareholder in its San Diego office. Borkenheim, who joins from Best Best & Krieger LLP, is the latest shareholder arrival and is one of five laterals Littler has brought on over the past month.

“With a career that spans private practice, in-house counsel roles and experience managing her own employment-focused law firm, Allison brings an impressive depth and breadth of experience,” said Erin Webber, Littler’s managing director and president. “Not only has she proven to be effective in navigating tough issues that occur in the courtroom, but she focuses on proactively addressing issues and building compliance programs to help protect her clients before litigation arises.”

Having practiced labor and employment law for more than two decades, Borkenheim has wide-ranging experience managing litigation and developing compliance programs on behalf of employers. She defends employers against claims involving discrimination and harassment, wage and hour compliance, and the California Private Attorney General Act. Borkenheim also represents employers in whistleblower lawsuits and has conducted high-profile workplace investigations involving members of the c-suite and other executives. She has experience in front of federal and state courts and administrative agencies, as well as in arbitration and mediation. Borkenheim’s clients include multi-national corporations, hospital systems, nonprofits, and public entities.

“Allison has extensive experience defending employers across several areas of law that are impacting our clients in California, and throughout the country,” said Alan McLaughlin, Littler’s regional office managing shareholder for the San Diego office. “Her business-focused approach to solving legal problems will be of great benefit to our clients, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the firm and the San Diego office.”

Earlier in her career, Borkenheim served as Vice President of Legal Affairs for Tri-City Medical Center, a public hospital with approximately 2,400 employees, and as an attorney advisor for the U.S. Army’s Office of the Judge Advocate General in the Civilian Labor and Employment Branch.

“I have long admired the reach of Littler’s global platform, depth of the firm’s resources, and its talented team of lawyers covering virtually any issue that may arise in the workplace,” said Borkenheim. “I’m excited for the opportunity to join the foremost labor and employment firm and to be a part of a firm that shares my commitment to providing forward-thinking, innovative, and practical solutions to employers to best manage their workplaces and mitigate litigation risk.”

Borkenheim received her J.D. from George Washington University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Notre Dame University of Maryland.
