Council of Urban Professionals Recognizes Jeanine Conley as 2017 Catalyst in Law

PHILADELPHIA/NEW YORK (November 7, 2017) – Jeanine Conley, shareholder in the Philadelphia and New York offices of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been named a Council of Urban Professionals (CUP) Catalyst in Law. The Catalysts in Law award recognizes leaders across the legal industry who have achieved novel success in business while contributing to their community through volunteerism, philanthropy and mentorships. Conley was one of six individuals honored at CUP’s Eighth Annual Lawyers Forum on October 11 in New York.

“Jeanine is an integral part of Littler’s diversity and inclusion efforts. She displays this through her active involvement in the community and leadership in several organizations, including serving as chair of the Board of Directors of the New York Urban League,” said Kris Derewicz, Philadelphia office managing shareholder. “She is an excellent example of the diversity and inclusion champions we have at Littler, and we congratulate her on this distinction.”

“I am honored to be named a CUP Catalyst in Law,” said Conley. “I am dedicated to providing opportunities for diverse and young professionals to discover opportunities for professional growth and advancement. I look forward to my ongoing partnership with CUP to help the council fulfill its mission of empowering the next generation of diverse business and civic leaders.”

Conley was named a CUP fellow and serves on the organization’s Alumni Board. In addition to her role with CUP, she is actively involved with the Urban Assembly School for Criminal Justice, the New York Urban League and the Association of Black Women Attorneys. The Metropolitan Black Bar Association named her Private Practitioner of the Year in 2016 and Chambers Women in Law honored her with the “Outstanding Contribution to Furthering the Advancement of Minority Lawyers” award.

In her legal practice, Conley counsels clients on employment-related disputes and workplace investigations. She defends employers in an array of industries before several government agencies and has experience with many employment matters, including retaliation and whistleblower litigation, wrongful termination cases, discrimination and harassment claims, and wage and hour issues. She also regularly conducts training on all facets of employment law and assists clients with revising employee handbooks, policies and procedures, in addition to drafting employment agreements and restrictive covenants.
