Gillian Gilbert counsels and represents employers in a wide range of employment law matters, with a focus on litigation, compliance, and workplace policy. She regularly defends employers in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies, in disputes involving:

  • Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
  • Leaves of absence and workplace accommodations
  • Noncompetition agreements and trade secrets

In addition to her domestic employment law practice, Gillian advises businesses on aligning operations with international human rights frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. She helps clients assess and mitigate human rights risks across global operations and supply chains.

Prior to joining Littler, Gillian represented health care providers and long term care facilities, defending against variety of claims including medical malpractice, negligence, premises liability and ADA claims. Gillian has also represented doctors and nurses in front of respective state licensing boards and counseled healthcare facilities on various aspects of regulatory compliance.

While in law school, Gillian served as Lead Managing Editor of the Minnesota Journal of International Law. She also contributed to the landmark empirical study on the impact of body-worn camera footage in civil litigation published in the Georgia Law Review, and served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Judge Schultz of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
