Overview

Amelia McDermott is a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team and is based in California. As a brief writer assigned to class, collective, mass and representative actions, Amelia formulates and executes briefing strategy. She evaluates and selects legal authority that supports the facts and circumstances of each case and prepares substantive briefs and motions, including complex dispositive motions, class certification motions and other strategic briefing.

Amelia has more than twenty years of experience in civil litigation and law and motion, including complex business cases and employment-related matters. In addition, her practice has focused on appellate law dealing with both procedural and substantive issues before state and federal appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Amelia is a Certified Specialist in Appellate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. As an experienced appellate attorney, Amelia understands how appellate courts operate and has the perspective needed to write persuasive briefs and properly present cases at the appellate level.

While in law school, Amelia was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, the magistrar of the international legal fraternity of Phi Delta Phi, and the founding content editor of the San Diego International Law Journal.
