Employment Law Update - Atlanta

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

  • 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM EDT

City Club of Buckhead
3343 Peachtree Road
Atlanta, GA 30326

This program will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to understand the latest employment and labor laws affecting the workplace and responsibilities in the coming year and beyond. Some topics will include religious accommodation considerations, diversity and inclusion strategies, and equal pay matters. Littler Shareholder Angelo Spinola will include practical advice while guiding employers through the maze of new developments in a fast-paced and—dare we say it—fun-filled session on preparing for the challenges that lie ahead.

This event will also explore cutting edge topics such as overtime pay when the new overtime regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act become effective on December 1, 2016. On that date, the minimum salary threshold for "white collar" exemptions from overtime more than double. The speakers will provide a detailed analysis of the new regulations and how employers can prepare for this change. Practical considerations for compliance, identifying employees at risk for misclassification, the impact of bonuses and commissions, and managing the reclassification of employees from exempt to non-exempt will be discussed.
