Littler’s Columbus Office Adds Veteran Employment Lawyer and Business Competition Litigator Kevin E. Griffith

COLUMBUS, OH (March 3, 2014) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added veteran employment lawyer and business competition litigator Kevin E. Griffith as a shareholder in the firm’s Columbus, OH office. Griffith was previously a partner in the labor and employment practice of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP.

“We are excited to welcome an attorney of Kevin’s caliber and experience to the firm,” said Michael T. Short, Columbus office managing shareholder. “His extensive expertise in employment and business competition law coupled with his strong Central Ohio relationships make him an excellent addition to our already-robust practice.”

During his legal career, Griffith developed both a deep expertise of labor and employment law and established a consistent track record of successful results for his clients. He has assisted clients in defending against hundreds of claims relating to employment discrimination, wrongful discharge and whistleblower retaliation under the Sarbanes–Oxley Act and now the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. He has also represented clients in prosecuting or defending the enforcement of no-compete and no-solicitation agreements, trade secrets and claims of trade secret misappropriation, unlawful raiding, computer fraud and abuse and other types of unlawful business competition.

Griffith also has experience in helping clients across the U.S. achieve cost-saving results through mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Additionally, Griffith assists clients with hiring or terminating high-level executives and, as a result, has experience with representing executives on a non-litigation basis with complex employment or severance agreements. Griffith also has long-assisted companies in implementing workplace substance abuse programs across the country.

“I am very excited about my move to Littler,” said Griffith. “The firm has established an incredible boots on the ground domestic and global footprint and is able to service clients with multi-regional operations seamlessly. Littler also has been able to capture its lawyers’ collective knowledge and experience using state-of-the-art technology platforms. This allows the firm to provide clients with answers to any question instantaneously and with great cost efficiency.”

Griffith also added that, “Porter Wright is an outstanding full-service corporate law firm with excellent lawyers and people.” His departure was mutually respectful and amicable and he will continue to refer non-labor and employment work to his former colleagues. “I have the utmost respect for the firm. I look forward to maintaining the many relationships I developed there,” said Griffith.

Active in a number of professional organizations, Griffith is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Federal Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. He has been recognized for his work by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America and Ohio Super Lawyers®.

Griffith received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his B.A. from University of Notre Dame.
