Cathy Beyda Brings Attention to New Legislation Concerning the Use of Social Security Numbers as Identification

No longer are Social Security Numbers (SSNs) safe to use as internal employee identification. As identity theft becomes a growing concern, new legislation prohibits employers from displaying no more than the last four SSN digits. According to Cathy Beyda, special counsel in Littler Mendelson's San Jose office, payroll debit cards are becoming increasingly popular where permitted in light of the new legislation.
