As a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team and based in Missouri, Amy Nixon is responsible for supervising a client-dedicated service team that focuses on handling administrative agency charges, ensuring the team provides excellent legal work in keeping with client expectations. In addition, Amy is responsible for handling administrative agency charges from investigation to conclusion. She investigates charge allegations, reviews pertinent documents, interviews key witnesses, and provides clients an assessment of the risks associated with the charge. In partnership with the client, Amy then defends the charge by drafting persuasive position statements and responses to the agency’s requests for information and/or pursues resolution of the charge through formal or informal settlement negotiations.

Previously, Amy focused her practice primarily on the litigation of harassment, discrimination and Employee Retirement Income Security Act claims. She regularly appeared in state and district courts and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Missouri Commission on Human Rights. She has specific experience with claims arising under:

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • The Missouri Human Rights Act
  • The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
  • The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)

Working with retailers and restaurants, Amy also counseled clients about employment policies and conducted training regarding the ADA and the FMLA.

Prior to joining the firm, Amy worked in-house for a large corporation in Oklahoma.
