Homble Olsby | Littler and American Chamber of Commerce in Norway are hosting an informative session on how international companies are addressing key U.S. employment and immigration challenges.

Companies operating in the U.S. face challenges in hiring workers when moving employees from international offices into the U.S., and in staying abreast of constantly changing policies and practices in employment and business immigration law. Businesses need up-to-date guidance to manage their U.S. workforce effectively and strategize for global mobility policies.

Littler's international employment lawyers will discuss the following topics:

Immigration: Mastering a climate of uncertainty – what you really need to know:

  • What are the general frameworks and requirements for business visas in the U.S.?
  • What obligations do employers with offices in the U.S. have with respect to checking and recording work authorization of their employees?
  • What recent policy challenges affect employers' ability to hire in and transfer international workers to the U.S., and how are some employers creatively addressing those challenges?
  • What do these changes mean for international business visitors?

Labor & Employment - key topics for international companies:

  • Hiring and firing workers in the U.S.: Does employment at will make it easier than in Europe?
  • How do Norwegian/Scandinavian companies maneuver in a different culture?
  • Consultants and independent contractors: A solution or a problem?
  • Mitigating the litigation risk coming from a system where most disputes are solved outside the court system

Registration & Breakfast: 8:00 - 8:30 am

Program: 8:30 - 10:00 am

Program is complimentary.
