This program will focus on major mistakes and misconceptions that get employers, large and small, into trouble, including: employee misclassification (FLSA and independent contractors), misunderstanding the application of the “at-will” doctrine to termination decisions, failing to recognize whistleblowers, overlooking inappropriate workplace behavior, retaliation, misunderstanding privacy issues re: electronic communications and media, forgetting the ADA accommodations processes, lapses in performance management and the termination process, failure to implement a workplace violence policy, underestimating unfair competition risks in the hiring process, and inadequate manager training.
This luncheon mini-series is designed for in-house counsel and human resources executives. The programs will be held one day a month, September through December, and will cover topics of current interest with substantial significance to a wide range of employers, both regional and national.
