This program will briefly review recent New York State employment law developments, including:
Expanded workplace discrimination/harassment protections, including:
- Expansion of coverage and protections (including to contractors)
- Lower burdens of proof for complainants
- Availability of punitive damages and attorneys' fees
- Restrictions on the use of nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) for discrimination cases
- Restrictions on the use of mandatory arbitration provisions
- Extensions of the statute of limitations for sexual harassment claims
New pay equity requirements, including:
- Expansion of relevant definitions and protected groups
- Permissible factors for wage differentials and related requirements
- Salary history ban (state-wide)
The information covered will benefit all New York employers, regardless of size, industry or geography.
