This in-person morning workshop is geared towards HR, labor relations, and employee relations professionals, as well as in-house counsel. Presenters will explore the fundamentals of conducting lawful and effective workplace investigations in the modern workplace. 

The session will provide practical guidance on fundamentals and advanced topics, aligning internal procedures with best practices, and cover how to create an investigative plan, evidence gathering techniques, interviewing witness, drafting reports, privileged investigations, social media concerns, sensitive issues that may arise, and avoiding common mistakes. Participants will have the opportunity to apply these investigation techniques through guided practice using realistic hypothetical scenarios.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of conducting lawful and effective workplace investigations
  • Develop the confidence to create your own investigative plan and independently manage workplace investigations
  • Identify best practices that shape defensible investigations, including witness interview and evidence-gathering techniques
  • Learn to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Recognize potential pitfalls in conducting investigations and how to address them head-on
  • Apply best practices to ensure investigations are legally compliant and defensible
  • Develop strategies for managing investigations in unionized and non-unionized settings

Registration Fee: $350

A light breakfast will be provided.
