On February 22, 2021, Governor Murphy signed three pieces of legislation implementing New Jersey’s decision to legalize marijuana, including the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance and Marketplace Modernization Act (the Act). While the enactment of this statute undoubtedly will result in major changes to many areas of New Jersey life and law, the impact on employers is especially significant. Newark attorneys Lauren Marcus and Dylan Dindial will be joined by Washington, D.C. attorney Nancy Delogu to offer practical advice and give strategic guidance for responding to the upcoming challenges. Nancy is a recognized resource on federal and state drug-free workplace and drug-testing issues and will be able to offer a unique perspective to what New Jersey employers are facing.

Topics to be covered:

  • Recap of medical marijuana law in New Jersey prior to enactment of the Act
  • What is the Act and when does it take effect?
  • Employment protections under the Act
  • Employer drug testing under the Act
  • Gaps and uncertainties not resolved by the Act

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PT
12:00 - 1:00 p.m. MT
