MSHA 101: What Do You Mean I’m a Miner?!?

Tuesday, September 23, 2025

  • 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM PDT

Many companies provide services to customers who fall under the definition of a “mine” and are under the jurisdiction of the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) rather than that of OSHA.

Because MSHA has unique regulations and training requirements, and penalties that can reach $332K against the employer (and $90K personally against agents of management), contractors, commercial haulers, and construction companies can easily run afoul of their requirements. Mistakes can be costly, and MSHA has strict liability, warrantless search authority and conducts mandatory inspections multiple times per year. So the chances are good that a visitor may encounter MSHA during a visit.

This webinar will explain how MSHA and OSHA differ, discuss best practices for ensuring compliance, and address how to manage MSHA inspections and accident investigations effectively.
