U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) wage-and-hour audits are a fact of life for home care industry employers. Whether triggered by a current or former employee complaint or random selection, U.S. DOL audits review, among other issues, your pay and time practices, classifications of exempt and non-exempt employees, classifications of independent contractors and employment of minors. When you are prepared, an audit opens and closes quickly and is an opportunity to show your company's compliance with the federal wage laws. When unprepared, or worse, when your company has failed to follow the law, an audit can result in the payment of significant back wages, liquidated damages and civil money penalties.

In this webinar, experienced Littler attorneys Josh Vaughn and Kayleen Egan will explain the anatomy of an audit (i.e., how they start, what happens, who is involved, how they end), provide recent real-life examples, and will provide best practices and tips on how to avoid the most common wage-and-hour mistakes home care agencies and employers make before and during a U.S. DOL audit.
