Complying With the New Indiana "Gun Law" While Preventing Violence in Your Workplace

The workplace is not free from the threat of violence by current and former employees or outsiders. The new Indiana Possession of Firearms and Ammunition in Locked Vehicles Law – the “Gun Law” – requires employers to allow employees to stow weapons in their locked vehicles while at work. Other employment laws require employers to provide their employees with safe workplaces and take measures to protect them from threats and acts of violence. Our seminar will discuss these matters, focusing on the following key inquiries:

  • How should you prepare for the July 1, 2010 effective date of the Indiana Gun Law?
  • How can you evaluate the risk of violence in your workplace?
  • What should you include in your workplace violence policy?
  • What can you do to prevent guns from entering your workplace?
  • Can you search employee property and vehicles for weapons?
  • How should you respond to acts of violence or reports of threatening behavior?
  • Is your level of emergency preparedness sufficient?

Please join us for this very important, complimentary seminar and learn what your obligations are in assessing your risk vulnerability, preparedness, response protocols, and other crisis prevention techniques. Our panel will help you sharpen your ability to spot danger effectively, react quickly, and provide sound leadership in the face of danger.
