The U.S. Department of Labor issued its final rule that requires covered federal contractors to provide employees with mandatory paid sick and safe leave, including paid leave to care for family members and family-like individuals. This rule will have far-reaching consequences and impose substantial new obligations on many employers beginning January 1, 2017.
