The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) identifies myriad statutory requirements applicable to human resources information that must be further developed in detailed regulations. Nonetheless, the California Privacy Protection Agency missed the July 1, 2022 statutory deadline for final regulations, and the end of the rulemaking process is nowhere in sight. Confronted with this regulatory uncertainly, employers must now work towards meeting the CPRA's January 1, 2023, compliance deadline while not wasting time on steps ultimately rendered unnecessary by the final regulations.

This webinar will provide attendees with an up-to-the-minute status report on the rulemaking process and recent legislative activity and what these developments mean for employers. The panelists will then share practical strategies on how employers can advance their CPRA compliance program despite the uncertainty, with an emphasis on strategies for CPRA data mapping, drafting mandatory CPRA notices and privacy policies, and preparing to respond to requests from employees, contractors, and applicants to exercise their newly minted CPRA rights.
