Moving into a foreign market can prove a difficult task. Australia and the Asia-Pacific regions are increasingly becoming attractive markets for investment, though issues involving employment law, immigration, taxation, international business development, and acquisitions are not always properly prepared for or fully understood.

At this event, authorities on these subjects will provide guidelines on the legal issues and multinational companies will offer their experience in expanding their own operations. One panel will focus on Australia and New Zealand and the benefits of both markets; a second panel will focus on China and other Asian nations in the APAC region. Representatives from the Australian and New Zealand Governments will be in attendance to present on the benefits of exporting into both countries and the ways that they can assist companies interested in investment.

Cross-border employment law issues to be discussed include:

  • General overview of employment law and how it differs from the U.S.
  • Due diligence considerations in acquisitions
  • Managing and terminating employees
  • Engaging international contractors
  • Immigration considerations and secondment arrangements
  • Benefits considerations
