The employment law trends that will fundamentally alter the public sector workplace have already started. The wheels are in motion. The future of your workplace is being determined right now in Congress, the courts, the enforcement agencies and the Arizona legislature. Dramatic changes in the economy, technology and the available workforce will forever change your daily routine.

To help you persevere, the Tempe City Attorney's Office and the law firm of Littler Mendelson have put together an Employment Law Update for 2011. During this program for human resources leaders and legal counsel, Littler attorneys will identify and discuss the most important developments in federal and Arizona labor and employment law in the public sector. Additionally, we will provide practical suggestions for responding to and implementing necessary changes in your workplace to assist you in responding to new developments.

Topics will include: an Employment Law Update, a discussion of the impact of the strong basis in evidence standard outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court in Ricci v. DeStefano, meet and confer developments, FLSA, ethics compliance, lead by guest speaker Lynda Shely, and a round table discussion with City Attorneys.

We look forward to an informative program as well as a valuable opportunity to meet, network and brainstorm with our colleagues from communities around Arizona.
