Littler Mendelson Welcomes Douglas Smith to Seattle Office

Seattle, WA/ April 16, 2007 -- Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm, is pleased to announce the arrival of its newest shareholder, Douglas Smith, to its Seattle office.

Mr. Smith's focus is advising employers on compliance with a wide variety of employment law subject areas, including federal and state wage and hour requirements and the USA Patriot Act. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Smith has represented numerous clients in complex class action litigation and has defended many well-known national and regional companies. In addition to defending clients in litigation, Mr. Smith also assists employers in responding to wage and hour investigations by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.

Mr. Smith received his B.A.. from Stanford University in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of Oregon in 1987. He is a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow and an active member of both the Employment Law Committee of the Association of Washington Business and the Employment Law Advisory Committee to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Prior to joining Littler, Mr. Smith was a shareholder at Lane Powell, where he was chair of the firm's Class Action Litigation Group and Co-Chair of the firm's Wage and Hour Group.
