Anti-Bias Agency Feels Sting of State Budget Crisis

Connecticut Law Tribune

The state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) has halted enforcement hearings and plans layoffs that would diminish the agency’s ability to investigate claimed violations of state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Layoffs would likely decrease the agency’s ability to investigate discrimination claims. George O’Brien shares his insight and states, “the agency has suffered from bad luck and negative press coverage over the years—sometimes unfairly.”
