Today, sponsors of employee benefit plans are arguably facing greater threats from participants and government agencies than ever before. Participants are regularly filing class action lawsuits against their employers grounded in alleged fiduciary missteps taken by plan sponsors.

This presentation will dissect the recent groundbreaking cases and distill from them those lessons that plan sponsors can use to rebuff participant claims. Government agencies are conducting intrusive and sophisticated audits of both retirement and health and welfare plans. The speakers will provide practical solutions to common plan compliance issues which are in the IRS and DOL crosshairs. They will also discuss the impact of recent tax legislation on employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements and provide planning tips which will benefit both employers and employees. And lastly, They will share with our attendees the latest insights we receive from policy leaders in Washington.

Topics will include:

  • Fortifying your retirement plans – How to minimize liability risk
  • Tax law changes – New concerns and opportunities for both employers and employees
  • ERISA litigation update – Cases, trends and practice pointers
  • Ethics issues for benefits practitioners
