Talent Development

As part of our overall goal to recruit and retain exceptional attorneys, we offer quality, comprehensive training programs and numerous opportunities for professional development. Our career development program will enhance your legal skills and knowledge, teach you how to do business and client development, and show you how to focus your efforts on solutions to meet client’s legal and business objectives. Not only do these programs help our lawyers progress from beginning to mid-level to senior associate to shareholder, but they also allow attorneys to share ideas and experiences, developing an invaluable sense of community and support.

Our training and development curriculum is devised with input from the firm’s associates and shareholders and is offered in a wide range of live and online formats. Some of the programs that pave the way for advancement are:

  • Legal writing
  • Wage and hour
  • Deposition skills
  • Class actions
  • Marketing and client development
  • Jury trial skills
  • Labor and employment fundamentals
  • Littler Academy: New Attorney Orientation
  • Legal project management
  • Leadership skills

Training Accounts
Littler training accounts are designed to allow our associates the opportunity to gain exposure to different areas of the firm’s practice. Training accounts provide eligible associates with up to 150 hours of “billable” credit per year to attend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, negotiations, trials and other observational experiences.

Reviews and Feedback
For the first two years of employment, new associates undergo performance reviews every six months. Valuable feedback that’s crucial for success is shared during these reviews. Subsequently, associates are reviewed annually.

Continuing Legal Education
Littler regularly offers continuing legal education seminars and programs designed to meet state licensing requirements and to further professional growth.

Mentor Program
Junior associates are paired with shareholder mentors who offer their guidance and observe each associate’s work and progress.
