Littler's Niza Motola Receives 2010 Top Lawyer Under Forty Award From HNBA

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 17, 2010) – Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, is proud to announce that Niza Motola, Special Counsel in Littler's Miami office, has been chosen to receive the 2010 Top Lawyers Under Forty Award from the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). The award recognizes attorneys under the age of 40 who have exhibited both leadership in the Hispanic community as well as professional excellence.

Motola was nominated for the honor by her Littler colleagues. In addition to her career at the Firm, she is an active member of the HNBA and in the Latino community.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to see Niza praised for her accomplishments in the field," said Lori Brown, managing shareholder of Littler's Miami office. "Niza is tremendously proud of her Hispanic heritage and has never lost sight of the compelling way she emigrated to this country. She is a walking reminder of why diversity is so important to our Firm."

"In 1980, my parents fled Cuba on a boat for the U.S.," stated Motola. "If someone had told them then that I would one day receive an award such as this, it would have been unimaginable. I am humbled and honored, and would not have received this distinction without the amazing support of my Miami colleagues and Littler's Diversity Council."

Motola joined Littler's Miami office in April 2003. She has a broad range of experience in the spectrum of employment and labor counseling and litigation, representing management in various industries. Motola received her J.D. from George Washington University Law School and B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University. She served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Vanessa Ruiz, Associate Judge for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

About the Hispanic National Bar Association

The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) is an incorporated, not-for-profit, national membership organization that represents the interests of the more than 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, and law students in the United States and its territories. From the days of its founding three decades ago, the HNBA has acted as a force for positive change within the legal profession. It does so by encouraging Latino students to choose a career in the law and by prompting their advancement within the profession once they graduate and start practicing. Through a combination of issue advocacy, programmatic activities, networking events and educational conferences, the HNBA has helped generations of lawyers succeed. The organization is stronger today than at any point in its history and is as committed as ever to its mission.
